Outdoor water restrictions are put in place to ensure an adequate supply for drinking water and fire fighting.
Generally speaking, outdoor water restrictions take place in towns that use a local source of water. Towns that get their water from the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA) do not tend to implement outdoor water restrictions, however water conservation measures are still recommended.
