Thank you, CWMN Volunteers!

Turner Pond is site MMB036.

The CWMN season has just come to an end and we want to thank everyone who was involved! It’s been a pleasure getting to know such a large network of people who are interested in keeping the Neponset River clean.

This year, CWMN volunteers collected close to 800 water samples and 200 Dissolved Oxygen readings. These monthly samples are what allow us to keep an eye on the river’s health.

We are working on entering all of the results from this year to a new database. It’s a lot of work, and it is taking longer than we expected. Once that’s all up to date, it will be much easier to work with. This database will be a huge improvement on our past system. It will make isolating trends in data much easier, as well as building a reliable and easy to analyze record of past results. As soon as we have this year’s results ready, we’ll share it with you on the website. In the meantime, if anyone would like site-specific results, shoot me an email. Thank you for your patience as we work on this!

Lastly, I’d like to say a special thank you and farewell to Steve Smith. A longtime volunteer, Steve just recently moved to Mexico. I won’t say exactly where – he swears it’s a well-kept secret. We’re now looking for someone who would be willing to drive the samples to Deer Island next season. Let me know if you’re interested, or nominate a friend!

I hope to see all of the volunteers at the CWMN Pizza Party in February. Until then, stay warm this winter.
