Weather in New England often times plays an important role in scheduling outdoor activities. With a boat cruise scheduled on the Neponset River Estuary in mid-August, and weather acting a bit fluky earlier in the month, NepRWA staff were holding their breath for a good day.
Clear, sunny, and warm weather (with calm seas) greeted us at Milton Landing, where we boarded the boats, the “Bon Jour”, captained by NepRWA member, Bill Gallagher, and the “Valhalla”, a sport fishing boat that has been plying the local waters for over 50 years.
With delicious food donations from the Fruit Center and Roche Brothers, we had a leisurely cruise up the estuary out to the mouth of the harbor. Ian Cooke, our Executive Director, and Chris Hirsch, our Environmental Scientist, gave updates of our current projects, while a glorious sunset led us back to the Landing.

Throughout the year, we have one or two special events for our Neponset Society members – donors who support our organization at a leadership level. There are various levels at which one can join with different benefits at each. If you would like more information about becoming a Neponset Society member and having the opportunity to join us on our next outing, please contact Dee Mullen, Director of Development, at 781-575-0354 x303 or email mullen@neponset.org
