Neponset River Watershed Association, along with the Boston Environment Department, the Milton Conservation Commission, the Mass Department of Conservation & Recreation, the Mass Department of Fish & Game, and the Lower Mills Merchants Association, have convened a Neponset River Restoration Citizens Advisory Committee, or “CAC,” to evaluate options.

The CAC is broadly representative of the affected neighborhoods of Dorchester, Mattapan, Hyde Park, and Milton, and also includes representatives of upstream and downstream interests.

The goal of the CAC is to develop a set of consensus recommendations regarding the ecological restoration of the Lower Neponset River.

Although the Watershed Association favors the option of full dam removal, we are working with the diverse interests on the CAC to develop a plan of action which everyone can support.
