Summary: 2022 Neponset River Fall Cleanup

NepRWA is extremely grateful to all of the volunteers who participated in the cleanup on Sept. 17th.

On Saturday, September 17th, more than 200 volunteers spread out across 14 different locations in Quincy, Dorchester, Milton, Mattapan, Hyde Park, Norwood, Dedham, and Canton, to help clean up trash and debris along the Neponset River, its tributaries, and surrounding parks.

Managed by dedicated site captains and community leaders, the volunteers collected thousands of pounds of trash in a 3-hour period, including 234 bags of trash, 100+ hypodermic needles, 21 tires, 500 pounds of metal beams, numerous metal pipes and other construction debris, 1 brake rotor, 1 car exhaust system, an F150 driver’s side door, 1 car seat, 1 toilet seat, 1 street sign, 3 lawn chairs, 1 bed frame, 9 shopping carts, 1 TV, 3 couch cushions, 12 cans of paint, 1 Carousel horse — and lots of cigarette butts, nip bottles, masks, and plastic bottles!
