April 25, 2013 – Blue Hills Reservation, Canton (Carly Rocklen)
On April 5, I heard the calls of Wood frogs and Spring peepers thickly emanating from a small pond. When I walked over, of course all the frogs ceased to call, but I did notice many small globs of Wood frog eggs within the water, as well as one or two salamander egg cases.
During an April 25 return visit, I saw that many of the frog eggs had become free-swimming tadpoles!
