Join long time NepRWA board member, and The Trustees volunteer, Les Tyrala, registered geologist, for a co-sponsored tour with the Neponset River Watershed Association at the Trustees Signal Hill Reservation in Canton.

During this 1+ hour program, we will be exploring the unusually colored maroon sedimentary rocks referred to the Wamsutta redbeds of the Narraganset Basin that crop out in proximity to the Neponset River here (there is a canoe launch site).  Also, we will look for evidence of a 415MY old bedrock depression here, and the older, rugged Blue Hills terrain that was shedding materials (pebbles to boulders) to the south into this basin.  Les will assist us with reading the glacial geology as well as the transported boulders on the property and what they can tell us about the local geology.

You must pre-register for this event; space is limited to 15 attendees. Children 12 years and older are welcome.

To register, please contact NepRWA Outreach Director, Nancy Fyler,

The rain date for this event is the next day, Sunday, July 9th, at the same time.  Co-sponsored NepRWA / The Trustees – Signal Hill Property
