April 28 Spring Cleanup: Update

Thanks to new community partnerships, this is shaping up to be the biggest spring cleanup yet - and we can't wait to get started!

We’re in the home stretch of planning for our annual spring river cleanup! On April 28th, from 9 am – 12 noon, volunteers will be cleaning up the Neponset all throughout the watershed. We’re really excited to work with different groups to tackle what is shaping up to be our biggest spring cleanup yet.

In Quincy, we’ll be cleaning up the Riverwalk! It got hit hard during those Nor’easters this winter, and the flooding made the trail almost unrecognizable after covering it with dead plants and other debris. We’re looking forward to cleaning it up so it can be enjoyed this spring.

In Milton, we’re tackling three sites with the help of the Pine Tree Brook Neighborhood Association, Pope’s Pond Neighborhood Association, the New England Aquarium live blue volunteers, and the Town’s generous support.

In Dorchester, we’ll be cleaning up along the riverwalk off of Granite Ave, as well as down by the Baker Dam Condos.

In Mattapan, the Edgewater Neighborhood Association is helping us coordinate a cleanup site along the river at Edgewater Drive. In Hyde Park, we’ll be giving Truman Parkway near Paul’s Bridge some attention.

Finally, in Canton we’ll be focusing on a small but important site at Devoll Field, cleaning up the banks of Beaver Meadow Brook.

We couldn’t do it without our dedicated volunteers! If you are interested in helping out, you can register to help out here: www.neponset.org/cleanup
