Galerucella Beetle Release Images - July 10, 2008

Volunteer Matt Bingham places a container of beetles in a cluster of Purple loosestrife at a pre-determined location in Fowl Meadow.

Volunteer Nathan Palmer gently opens a bucket of beetles at

Brookwood Farm.

Beetles make their way out of the container and into the cluster of surrounding

Purple loosestrife. The bedding at the bottom of the bucket is also full of beetles,

and will be placed separately in the field.

Galerucella beetles leave the bedding, which has now been placed in a cluster of

Purple loosestrife.

Beetles on the lid of the bucket. The lid will be placed in the field, as well.

Beetles exit the bucket to enter the cluster of Purple loosestrife.

Beetles storm a Purple loosestrife plant. A variety of damage to the leaves is visible.
