The
Neponset River Watershed Association monitors water quality
around the Neponset River Watershed in order to catch any
water pollution problems and start the process of cleaning
them.
NepRWA
runs the Citizen Water Monitoring Network program ("CWMN"
- pronounced "swimmin"), and also a hot-spot
sampling program.
NepRWA
trains CWMN Volunteers to monitor water quality around the
Neponset River Watershed, in streams, ponds, lakes and the
River. CWMN data help NepRWA to pin-point water quality
problem areas for follow-up.
NepRWA
Environmental Scientist Bill Guenther chooses particular
problem sites identified through the CWMN program, for
further testing. At these "hot spot" sites, Bill
tests for the presence of "optical brighteners". Optical
brighteners indicate that untreated wastewater is
entering these water bodies.
