Exploring the Neponset

There are many ways you can explore the Neponset River. You can canoe, kayak or fish on its waters, to get a water view of the river.

You can wade in the river or scramble along its banks, looking for the creatures that swim or float in the water or meander through the Neponset's water-side brush.

You can walk or bike on the Neponset Greenway Trail in Dorchester/Milton, the Ryan Playground Trail in Mattapan, the Trail at Kennedy Playground in Mattapan, the Burma road trail in Milton, or Pope John Paul II Park in Dorchester.

In the wintertime, you can snowshoe or cross-country ski along these trails. There are year-round outdoor programs for families and schools along the Neponset! See what there is to do.
