Blue Hills Reservation:

Events

Adult Walking Club: Explore the hills and wetlands, woods and rocky crags of this exquisite parkland with neighbors from around your Watershed.

Boston: 

Family Movie Series: Dorchester. Enjoy a free movie series at sunset in July and August. Location: Pope John Paul II Park, Gallivan Blvd., Dorchester. Sponsored by DCR and BNAN. For more info., call 617-542-7696.

BNAN Events: Boston. The Boston Natural Areas Network hosts a variety of events in the Boston area, year-round.

Arnold Arboretum: Jamaica Plain. Participate in a variety of workshops and events at this peaceful and well-maintained parkland in Boston. Free, guided walking tours available on various days & times in October. View upcoming environmental events, or call 617-524-1718, X 100.

Boston Nature Center & Wildlife Sanctuary Programs: Mattapan. Enjoy nature trails, a Nature Center, year-round activities and urban gardens.

Dept. of Environmental, Earth & Ocean Sciences, UMass-Boston: Attend expert-led seminars on a variety of environmental subjects.

Franklin Park Zoo: The Zoo offers 1/2-price admission from 10:00AM-Noon on the first Saturday of every month. 

DotBike: Dorchester. Dotbike is a community of local cyclists who promote increased awareness, opportunity, and safe cycling in Dorchester through advocacy and bicycling events.

Mattapan Square Farmers Market: Mattapan. Enjoy local produce on summer Saturdays from 9AM-1PM. Through August 18, the market will be in at the parking lot of the Church of the Holy Spirit. From 8/25-9/29, the market will be in the parking lot of the Jubilee Christian Church at 1500 Blue Hill Ave. Produce is grown at the Brookwood Community Farm. Codman Square Health Center Farmers Market: Dorchester. Support local farmers AND get fresh produce! Thursdays, 4-7PM. the market will set-up in the municipal parking lot in front of the health center, and will open on June 12 and run to October 23. Farmers Market: Dorchester/Roxbury. Run by the Food Project/Youth Program and featuring produce grown by Dorchester & Roxbury farmers! Farmers Market: Support local agriculture and small farms; visit this Farmers' Market - an open-air public market that takes place from 11:30AM-5:00PM on Fridays from June 23-October 27, at the John Hancock Municipal parking lot! Westwood:

Family Walking Club at Hale Reservation, Sundays, 1-2:30PM: A Hale Reservation naturalist will lead a walk exploring the seasonal landscape of Hale and sharing the wonders of its natural history. Framingham:   Garden in the Woods/New England Wild Flower Society: Come explore trails in a woodland garden with 1500 native plant species and cultivars, including 200 rare and endangered species, pick up some native plants at the nursery, take classes, or volunteer! Tours are available on weekdays at 10AM and on weekends at 2PM, and are included with admission (no reservations necessary). Admission: $8 adults, $6 seniors and students with ID, $4 children 3-18. Providence, RI:   Brown University Center for Environmental Studies: Lectures & Events

New Hampshire:   High Pond Farm Natural History Weekends - Workshops for Amateur Naturalists. Come learn at weekend workshops for amateur naturalists in botany, lichenology, bryology, geology, odonatology, herpetology, entomology, ornithology, ecology, and any other - ology that strikes your fancy. Our natural history workshops are taught by recognized experts in their respective fields and are designed to provide an opportunity for an intensive learning experience for serious amateur naturalists. Pariticpants should be reasonably fit and able to hike to field sites over fairly challenging terrain. Friday and Saturday evenings are spent in the classroom, while Saturday and Sunday are full field days. Learning continues over meals, which are taken together. Arrival is Friday evening and departure is late Sunday afternoon. All workshops are strictly limited to 10 participants. Learn more about upcoming workshops!
