2010 Annual Meeting

Featured Speaker Curt Spalding of EPA New England

Thank you to all who joined us for the June 17, 2010 Annual Meeting of the Neponset River Watershed Association, with Featured Speaker Curt Spalding, the newly appointed Regional Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) New England District and former long-time Executive Director of Save The Bay - Rhode Island, delicious food & drink, and the camaraderie of fellow Neponset environmental enthusiasts, all in Meditech's stunning indoor tropical garden ~

Mr. Spalding has years of experience successfully working on issues in which NepRWA also is involved -- restoring a river, strengthening environmental policy, fighting sewage pollution, improving fish passage, restoring wetlands, dealing with the negative effects of dredge material dumping, and cleaning up stormwater.

FEATURED SPEAKER CURT SPALDING

Mr. H. Curtis ("Curt") Spalding has extensive experience in the environmental protection field, as an advocate, policy analyst and administrator. For almost 20 years, he served as Executive Director of Save The Bay in Rhode Island, a nationally recognized, 20,000-member environmental advocacy and education organization. He established the Narragansett BayKeeper and Habitat Restoration programs which reconnected Save The Bay to ecologically important Bay issues and oversaw the successful completion of the $9 million Explore The Bay Campaign and construction of the Save The Bay Center at Fields Point in Providence, RI. Prior to joining Save The Bay, Mr. Spalding was an Environmental Protection Specialist and Presidential Management Intern at EPA’s offices in Boston and Washington, D.C. Mr. Spalding received his bachelor’s degree from Hobart College and an M.P.A. from SUNY at Albany in Albany, NY.

Thanks to the generosity of Meditech-Canton, the NepRWA 2010 Annual Meeting was held in the stunning indoor tropical garden and auditorium of Meditech-Canton, at the foot of the Blue Hills Reservation.
